A Volunteerism Milestone

For the past 14 months, Laureen Gosselin of Arden Engineering has been donating her time to the Ronald McDonald House of Providence, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families with children who are hospitalized at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Within her first eight months as a volunteer, Laureen was able to donate 100 hours of her time, an impressive milestone that earned her a commemorative brick, engraved with her name, which will be placed within a wall in the patio area of the facility.

Of her time spent with her families staying the the Ronald McDonald House, Laureen says, “I really enjoy being there for the parents and visitors of the sick children. This room [within the house] gives them a quiet place to sit, eat, or just have someone to talk to (me or another parent). Oftentimes, there is a parent with the child at the hospital 24/7. From my own experience, I know that can be a truly overwhelming and exhausting time where you feel so helpless to your child. We volunteers are just there to try to make a moment or two just a little bit easier [for the parents] with a quiet moment, a cup of coffee, or just a shoulder to lean on.”

Members of the Arden Engineering team know all too well Laureen’s charitable initiatives, as she spearheads bi-annual food drives, coordinates holiday charitable work, and manages most donations to the various causes we support.

Congratulations on this milestone, Laureen, from all of us at Arden Engineering. Thank you for embodying the spirit of generosity that we all cherish as members of the Arden Building Companies family.
